Dear Bro. Burgess,

I am missing you so much tonight.  You've been on my mind so much lately.  I guess I just wanted to tell you that I love you and I wish I could visit with you.

John Christmas in Heaven December 3, 2012

My First Christmas in Heaven

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heaven’s stars, reflecting on the snow
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can’t compare
with the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart
But I am not so far away, we really aren’t apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones, you know I hold you dear.
And be glad I’m spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.

I sent you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory of my undying love.
After all, love is a gift more precious than pure gold
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do
For I can’t count the blessing or love he has for each of you
So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear
Remember, I am spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.

Dear Pastor Burgess,
I know it's almost been a year since you left us! And it's seems like longer,So much longer, I wish you was here,But i know your in such a better place and wouldn't trade that for anything. I feel like your watching over everyone when i step inside that door at the Church! I love everyone there so much and miss them too when i'm away. You have taught me so very much and I think of our trip to the amusement park in Idaho- Silverwood, You was driving the bus and you kept looking at me and my husband often,You had on a huge smile and was so happy! And you made me so very happy to be a part of it all! But I am still very sad your gone! So sad i still cry at times,I don't tell anyone about it either. But you and your wife seemed so much like parents to me! I always looked for guidance from ya both! I'm so very happy you have left such a great legacy behind! Your son has became such an awesome preacher! I know your proud of them and You would be even more so I'm sure! They are Amazing!! All of your families have grown so much and look great!! I miss being down there! I miss the church there so much! But I also miss the Church over here. I been having trouble getting my husband to go back,And i wish I had you to talk too and for you to talk to him! I've been asking him for months to get back on God's plans. He won't listen to me! So I hope and pray that a miracle happens and he is back and even better at the Church! You know what i mean. But I can't even began to tell you how much your missed! And by so many too! You was my first Pastor in the west coast! And one who became such a big part in my heart! Like a dad! And Your wife,Like a mom! I always wanted to express it more before you was gone! But life took us to different places, But there seemed more like home! I thank you always for your teachings and the love you have shown to everyone! I appreciated it more than you know. And I wish to have a better relationship with all your families! I love them all so much, But i've kind of been shy at expressing my feelings so I show it in different way's. I just wanted to write and let you know how much Curtis and I loved and miss you with all our heart! My husband wanted to see you so bad before you left,And i know it hurted him so bad that he didn't get that chance. So i hope and pray that if something ever happens to him in the future,That he get's to do that! I know your having it so much better where you are, Just wished you could of stayed longer with all of us!  And i had to write to let you know that we are missing you so very much! <3~~A.W.~~~ <3

To Sis Elder Burgess,
I love you and can not imagine what you are going through inside. But I admire your strenghth and want you to know that there are people all around you that care about you and love you. I know it cant replace what you are missing with the one you loved and lived with all those years but maybe some how it can easy your pain. They say time heals all wounds... I know you will never forget but I pray that God wraps His arms around you and comforts you until then. I love you and am here for you if you need anything.

To Pastor Burgess and Family,
I love you all and know inside how broken you must be. I know my day is coming and I can only hope to have some of the strenghth you are showing. But in those alone times when you dont have to be strong for anyone I pray God gives you more stenghth and wraps you in His arms and lets you know how great you are doing. My He also lighten your load for awhile so you can stand tall. Thank you for giving to the Lord.

To Carla and Family,
I love you all and am praying for peace and comfort in your hearts. I know how much I am hurt and broken about it and I was not his daughter...I know I will have to face the same one day and I know it cant be easy...but I admire your strenghth and just know if you need me Im here if I can help in any way.

Jessi Allen Our Elder December 4, 2011

Here are a couple video clips and photos I took of Elder Burgess.

Prayer from Bro. Hamby - The cap to the anointing bottle was still in his hand.

I don't have many one on one memories with this great man, but I know that he dedicated me to the Lord when I was a baby. I feel priveledged to have been raised in the church he started and to now be under his son as my pastor.
I loved Elder Burgess' sincerity, passion and humor in the pulpit, he always made me laugh. Also his sober and kindheartedness on a one on one basis. He always made sure to shake my hand, hug me, and tell me he loved me.

I appreciate very much watching his family be strong.

Sis. Elder Burgess - You have shown great strength and courage through the circumstance. The first service after his passing, I looked down as I was singing to see you standing strong, hands raised, worshiping our God and Savior. Your husband will be proud of you.
Pastor Burgess - You have stood on what you preach, that God is number one in our lives and doing His work is most important NO MATTER WHAT. Despite the pain, you have stayed strong and demonstrated that through the pulpit and your preaching. Your father will be proud of you.

Watching these two testimonies has been the most heart-felt thing I may have ever witnessed. Appreciate them very much and will hang on to them throughout my lifetime.

With God, all things are possible.
He is our comfort, strength, strong tower, ALL.

Three Old Wells
Growth is important, we should constantly be growing. A baby is in a crib for about a year or so but, if in five years the child is still in a crib then there’s a problem. The child needs to grow and mature. In the church there are new babies. New babies in the church need to grow at a normal, steady pace. They need to be rooted and steadfast in their salvation.
(Reference story of wild boars and pit bulls)
A pit bull dog will fight with confidence and aggression. We need to have that same kind of fight in us. We should understand that the devil is no match for us. We can be encouraged, knowing that God is on our side.
We need to keep a song of life in our hearts. Murmuring and complaining will cause you to not have joy. You’re not going to have much joy if you’re slouching around God.
If we have the springs of living water in us we’ll make it through hard times. Water is the substance that will bring life and will sustain you. Without water we have nothing productive.
Isaiah 12:2, 3
“2Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
3Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.”

In John 4:14 Jesus told the lady at the well, “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
The Well of Repentance
Matthew 4:17
“From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Mark 6:12
“And they went out, and preached that men should repent.”
2 Corinthians 7:12
“Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.”
You can’t hold on to God and the world at the same time. You’ve got to find repentance. Some people bypass repentance, but you have to fill your bucket from the well of salvation and get repentance.
Some people are so full of pride that they can’t come and kneel at the altar. We need to pray that God will forgive us, even of our unknown sins.
When you repent and unload, you will feel better. Repentance is more than just shedding a few tears at the altar. When one truly repents they are a changed person. Repentance will bring joy to your world. Repentance is turning 180 degrees away from sin; it’s saying you’ll never again do what you’ve been doing; totally turning around. When you grasp true repentance you forsake sin, you make an about face and you know that you’re not going back.
The Well of Baptism
Acts 4:12
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Romans 6:3-6
“3For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
4God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
5But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)
6God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?”

Once you’ve repented you need to drink from the well of baptism. When you’re baptized in water, in the name of Jesus, it washes away all sin. We’re clean and new. We become a “new creature in Christ.”
The Well of the Holy Ghost
Acts 2:38
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
This is the well that holds the springs of living water!

I Thank God For Pastor's and Elder's In My Life!

Honey Baker He believed it and he lived it November 27, 2011

I can hear him singing ... and I know he is shouting around the throne.

Watch Ye therefore You know not the day... When the Lord shall call your soul away... If your fighting, striving for the right...
You SHALL wear a robe and crown.

I'm gonna wear a crown, Gonna wear a crown when the trumpet sounds oh I am gonna wear a crown
Just as soon as my feet touch Zion
Gonna lay down my heavy burden
Gonna put on a robe in Glory
Gonna Shout and tell the Glad story
We shall wear a robe and crown.

Sister Burgess you are in my thoughts and prayers. You and Brother Burgess had a beautiful marriage. He loved you that was evident in the way he looked at you. I loved the way he said your name. With such tenderness.

Brother Shannon Burgess
You and your wife are  both so courageous. I am praying for you. Thanks for sharing your Father with those of us that didn't have one.  I know that you and your ministry will be his legacy. He loved you.

Carla ,
You did an absolutely beautiful job on your song. The best I had ever heard you sing it before. Your Dad was PROUD. You do look just like him and today you showed a strength that I have seen in few others. I will be praying for you.  Please know that I love you.

Chehalis Church family,
Keep on keeping on ... You shall wear a robe and crown...
Marco Hernandez Always uplifting November 26, 2011

Elder Burgess somehow always knew the right words to say at all the right times. With him around you were hard pressed to come around in a bad mood and leave with that same bad mood. Somthing about elder just uplifted your spirit. I don't know if it was his smile, the way he always seemed to turn somthing serious into somthing funny, or how he always knew what to say to bring a smile to your face. I can't count the times he asked me if i was "going to marry this one." He always seemed to know when you were struggling or just down and always would come and hug you and tell you he loved you. We have lost a amazing man of God but heaven has gained a priceless addition to their team. Elder if anyone deserved heaven it was you. Try not to cause to much commotion up there. :) Miss you lots and I know I will see you one day again.
