Three Legged Chicken |
November 21, 2011 |
As I listened to testimony from long time members and relatives given in honor of Elder Burgess, it became obvious to anyone present that this great man had the ability to be your friend and your pastor. Because of the love and caring he shared with you as an individual, one felt truly blessed with assurance that all things would work out for the best. I always considered Elder Burgess possessed all the attributes of a great pastor and that he could inject those qualities into his congregation. Elder Burgess had a personality like no other and used his humor and stories at times to deliver his message. During our last visit with Elder Burgess just before he entered the hospital, he told a joke to all in the room about a three legged chicken that crossed a country road. Thank you Elder for your friendship, humor and counsel. On my country drives I will always be looking for that three legged chicken and thinking of a time when we will be able to drink coffee and fellowship again.

Elder Burgess was an AWESOME man of God. He always stood for what was right even when others told him it was wrong.
I loved him very much. You never realize how much you care for someone until they are gone. I will miss him dearly. He was such an influencial person and out of all the places for him to start a church it amazes me that he picked CHEHALIS WASHINGTON. Without him, many many many people would not be saved in our area and I am thankful for all of the people he has touched.
Up until the end his faith was stronger than I can only pray I can be. We all should strive to be like this man was. I love you Elder Burgess. You will be missed.

My Grandfather |

I have no words to describe the man my PawPaw was, there's none great enough. My heart aches today, but I know my Pawpaw is walking the Streets Of Gold with Jesus today. I love him so very much, He was the most honorable man of God I know. His compassion, and love has touched more than any of us can count. He has left a legend greater and bigger than we know. His legend he left was full of love, support, and he taught us so many things. He forgave, when no one else would have, he loved those who hated him. He carried many burdens for us, so we could stand here today, I think what if we were in his shoes, could we carry his load. He reached to the hopeless, the poor, the rich, he reached to anyone who would allow him to. He always had the Hand of God on his life, when he walked in, you felt the presence of God. My PawPaw had a love and spirit about him that touched everyone. He wasn't always easy on myself, he was straight-forward, told it how it was, never sugar-coated it. Because of this though, he has installed so many things in me, the Revelation Of who Jesus Christ is, and my beliefs. No words to describe, but he ran his race for God, he ran it hard, but he made it to the finished line, I know in my heart he has made God very proud. He was a soldier for the Lord, he left an army of warriors, who he invested years in to carry on this fight, it is our duty to live to that, I know in my heart I am going to fight for what he has fought for many years, his beliefs. Love you so dearly PawPaw. R.I.P

Our Friend |

I had been around Elder Glen Burgess at meetings across the country, but I really got to know our friend Elder Burgess in 1992, when my wife and I were blessed to preach a five week revival at the First Jesus Name Church of Chehalis.
I observed first hand, grew to love, respect and honour a man with a love and a passion for souls.
Elder Burgess was a true Christian gentleman with the heart of a pastor.
God Bless the memory of a great man.
The Boyds love the Burgess family and want you to know that you all are in our prayers.
